IOSYS: First Encounter

Around this time last year I stumbled upon a group called IOSYS, clueless as to what their music was like I wasn't sure what to expect. A song of theirs instantly caught me off guard, this song which would later lead to many good memories is called "Marisa Stole The Precious Thing."

This furious, melodic, techno-ish song with hint of insanity does such a great job at catching your attention and taking you on a ride at the same time. This is what IOSYS is all about, story-telling through music. Where do they base their stories you might ask? Well they base it off the Touhou Project video games, a famous series known for its very comical characters who are all based around the fundamental magical/witch Japanese stereotypes(witch, vampire, devil, maiden, ghosts, maiden etc.). With this in mind you really get a solid story through their music. You get sad moments, happy moments, thoughtful moments, etc.

Very creative stuff rarely seen in music, yes anime music unlike most other types of music for the most part tell a story of sorts. But IOSYS's music does a great job at adding complexity and many many....many parts of the story to their songs. You could say their music nothing short of magical.

In celebration of their 10th Anniversary which is coming up on October 10th(through the 12th) we'll take you through an IOSYS journey where we'll showcase this great group and its contribution to anime-related music, to Japanese music, to music.
